Hundred’s of Santas took to the streets of Winchester last weekend for the festive fundraising 5K run.

Sunday 3rd December, saw around 700 Santas running to raise money for local hospice charity, Naomi House and Jacksplace.

The runners gathered outside the Guildhall for their festive Zumba warm-up at 8:55am which got everyone involved ready for the run itself.

At 9:00am it was go time, Santas set off on the route which took them past some of Winchester’s most famous attractions.

People of all ages and abilities were encouraged to participate, even furry friends.

Santas were greeted with a live band and a flurry of snow as they set off of their run and as they finished.

This year was the 14th year of the event.

Naomi House and Jacksplace is a charity which provides expert hospice care for children and adults who have complex care needs.

Those taking part were asked to raise £50 for the charity, hoping support and fund their vital work. The charity supports more than 550 families across central southern England.

Gemma, the charities events fundraiser, said: “The event is really important to us so we can raise the money needed to keep our services going.”

The £15 registration fee also goes directly towards these services.

The charity hosts Santa Fun Run’s in Winchester, Salisbury and Poole. Last year £37,000 was raised for the charity.
