A local performer is hoping to be the winner that takes it all in ITV’s new prime time reality show, Mamma Mia! I Have a Dream.

Darcy James, 21, is competing for the role of Sky in the new reality show Mamma Mia, I Have a Dream. He is one of 14 competing for a year long contract on the West End show.

He will be singing, dancing and acting in front a star panel of judges who will decide who will take on the leading role.

The judges include comedian Alan Carr, West End Star Samantha Barks along with actor, Amber Riley and singer Jessie Ware. Each week they will decide who will stay on and who will be going home.

Darcy grew up on the local stages doing yearly pantomimes with his theatre group, he then went on to graduate from London Music College in 2021.

Since graduating he has been auditioning nonstop alongside working events, in a gym and landscaping with his dad.

He said: “For me it is all about proving to my younger self that I was right when I questioned whether I was following the right pathway.”

Darcy says that the role of Sky appeals to him as he steps out of his comfort zone, and you see him grow and become a better person because of that.

He said: “I am doing something out of my comfort zone and showing that anything is possible. It is about defying the odds!”

Mamma Mia, I Have a Dream airs every Sunday at 6pm on ITV and ITVX.
