Naomi House and Jacksplace host annual Winchester Santa Fun Run
For over 15 years, the people of Winchester have been dressing up in their finest festive gear, lining the streets of Winchester and completing either a 2k or 5k run for Naomi House and Jacksplace.
The charity hopes to raise in excess of £50,000 this year breaking the record of over £40,000 back in 2023.
Naomi House and Jacksplace is a charity which supports and provides care for terminally ill children and young adults, they offer vital respite support, giving families the chance to recharge their batteries and regroup in a calm, fun and welcoming environment.
The two charities have been the main sponsor for the fun run since 2009, and since then have raised over £300,000.
This year over 1,000 Santas came out and supported the cause, an increase from the 750 who took part last year which began at 9am on Sunday Morning.
The route took runners in a 5km loop from the Guildhall, passing the River Itchen and through the countryside.
Paul Morgan, the director of fundraising and communications said that ” we’ve had a fantastic day out, and hopefully we’ve raised a lot of money to help our children and young adults.”
“Anyone can get involved , whether it’s in your home amongst your friends and family, or even at your work place. When people see our care and support, what they realise is service is one of those special places, that we’ve got to keep going.
