The annual pumpkin time event has returned to Sunnyfields Farm in Southampton.

Each year the event grows and this year is no different.

With a touching mural, record breaking pumpkins and interactive rooms this years event is the epitome of growth.

People from all over Hampshire travel each year to attend the event and pick their favourite pumpkins for carving, but this year there were some VIPs in attendance as well.

Each year the farm post on their social media for their followers to pick the mural, following the passing of Ozzy Osbourne in July of this year he was the clear winner of these polls.

The whole Osbourne family went along to the farm to visit the mural.

I spoke to the Director of Sunnyfields Tom Nelson about their visit where he told me they came through their back of house area and took a tour of the site before seeing the mural.

Tom told me how the farm were contacted by email to discuss the Osbournes coming along and how he didn’t believe it at first.

When they first arrived it was thought the family would want to see the mural and leave due to their high profile but the family enjoyed the sight and even took part in he interactive rooms.

The Osbournes weren’t the only VIPS, however the others were Very Important Pumpkins.

Sunnyfields farm has been home to two very large pumpkins for years but this year is the first year its been home to world record breaking pumpkins.

Twins Ian and Stuart Paton have been growing these pumpkins for over five decades but this year is the first year they were able to bring the world record to the UK.

They haven’t just gained one world record but two!

Worlds heaviest pumpkin (1,278.8 kg) and worlds largest pumpkin by circumference (649.8cm) now belongs to the twins.

Not only do they have this record breaking vegetable they have a second on show at Sunnyfields weighing in at 1,117kg!

The glow room is another popular attraction on site, with painted walls glowing in the dark, families are enjoying walking round and seeing the neon colours take over.

With a DJ being on site every evening this is another example of growth in the event.

There is truly something for everyone and with Tom hoping to grow the event again next year many are excited to return.
