Who will be appointed New England manager?
As Lee Carsleys term as England manager comes to a close the fa have begun their hunt for Gareth Southgates successor.
Southgate enjoyed a fairly successful tenure, reaching two finals, one semi final and one quarter final across his 4 major tournaments as the three lions manager.
However his term ended in the summer after a second disappointing euros final loss, he mutually left the role as England manager.
Since then former u21’s boss Lee Carsley has taken over, and he was initially in for 3 camps however it has been rumoured he may be the man to take over.
However Carsley himself has killed these rumours as he said:
“Nothing’s changed in that respect. My remit was to do the three camps and then hand over.”
He also said that he believes the next manager should be someone experienced and someone with a history of winning trophies.
Carsley suffered his first loss as England manager last week, as Greece scored late to take home the three points in the nations league.
Carsley still has 3 wins however, impressing england fans with a new more modern style of football whilst also bringing in many new players he has previously worked with at the u21’s.
According to many reports the fa see Pep Guardiola as their top target to replace Gareth southgate. Guardiola’s contract runs out this summer with Manchester City and rumours have it that the fa are lining up a deal to make him the new three lions boss.
Guardiola became the first manager in premier league history to lead his team to 4 consecutive titles alongside his 18 trophies since joining the citizens in the summer of 2016.
Another candidate being rumoured is Thomas Tuchel. The German recently departed Bayern Munich and is reportedly interested in taking the role as new england boss.
Tuchel has experience working in England as he was Chelsea’s manager from 2021-2023, also making him familiar with many players in and around the squad.
