‘You can be exactly who you are!’ One-of-a-kind hair salon opens in Romsey
The Coven in Romsey opens its doors to “those that need it most”
Bell Street recently welcomed a new hair salon, providing a sensory-friendly atmosphere to those who struggle with salon environments.
Verity Wall, owner of The Coven and sister salon Belle Hair Boutique, aims to ease the experience for neurodiverse individuals, prone to sensory overloads.
“I think it’s going to mean a lot to people that don’t necessarily feel comfortable in a typical salon environment,” she said.
The low lighting and quiet atmosphere create a stress-free environment, unlike a typical hair salon, making it accessible and user-friendly to anyone that might need it.
Sensory sessions and private appointments are available for customers to book the space for one-to-one treatments, at an additional cost.
Verity said: “It’s a business and to allow us to do that, the prices are slightly higher than if you came next door. But we hope it’s still affordable.”
With more than 20 years of industry experience, Verity also specialises in vivid and alternative hair, for anyone seeking a more edgy or gothic-inspired look.
