Borrowed Breath art exhibition opens at Winchester Cathedral
A new art exhibition has opened at Winchester Cathedral.
The “Borrowed Breath” exhibition by artist Laurence Edwards is the first collaboration between the cathedral and London-based gallery Messums.
Visitors will have the chance to see 15 sculptures by Edwards, all in the wax state of the bronze casting process, inspired by the history of the cathedral’s Great West Window.
Ollie Taylor, Head of Visitor Experience and Events at the Cathedral, said: “It’s a real privilege for us to host this exhibition.
“It’s always nice to have a real synergy between contemporary work and the historic building, rather than just bringing in something that just sits in the space.
“Having work that’s a conversation between the building and artwork itself is richer, and a better experience for visitors.”
The exhibition is on display until the 6th of November.
