On Tuesday 14th November at 10 am, the first graduation ceremony for the University of Winchester graduates took place at Winchester Cathedral.

The first of 11 ceremonies saw students from the faculty of Law, Crime and Justice graduate. Each day will celebrate different faculties with a corresponding honorary doctorate.

Three ceremonies a day will take place up until Friday 17th November. On the final day there will only be two ceremonies.

Rain dominated the Tuesday’s morning ceremony but over 500 people, graduates and their families, were still in attendance.

Not letting the weather dampening their spirits, even with the rain coming down, the hats still went up.

Honorary Doctorate, Jonathan Wettingsteel, was also in attendance who received his special degree for his support of future generations in the legal profession with his law firm, Dutton Gregory, based in Winchester.

Honorary Doctorates are set to be giving throughout the week to names such as Wendy Searle, Lord Mark Price and Clive Myrie.

After their ceremony, graduates and their friends/families showed up at the Guildhall to drop off their caps and gowns.

Over 2,000 graduands are set to become graduates through out the course of the week, and the number one question is: whats next?

I spoke to three graduates with two aiming to go straight into employment, in the police and cyber protection, and the other choosing to study longer in order to become a barrister.
