Cyclists will soon be able to enjoy a coffee at a Winchester nature reserve now that the council has given it the official go ahead.

After weeks of hard work and planning, youth community group SPUD can start laying the foundations for their new café on a national cycle route near Snt Catherines hill.

It will provide a rest stop for weary legs, as well as a cycle repair shop.

The café – a partnership between youth talent and established organisations – was set up to provide young people with lasting skills.

Mark Drury of SPUD said it had been a great opportunity for everyone.

Eloise Appleby from the city council said: “The project has really caught the imagination of local people.
