Hampshire fire and rescue services rushed to battle a blaze in Andover, that started shortly after 02:45am.

Crews from all over Hampshire, including Winchester, Southampton, Eastleigh and Basingstoke, are among 20 other crews who are attending the fire, that broke out in the Walworth Industrial estate in the early hours of this morning.

It is believed that around 120 to 130 people were working on site at the time the fire broke out.

In a statement Ocado said: “All relevant safety measures were carried out as planned, and no-one suffered injuries.”

The cause of the fire at the robot-run warehouse is still unknown.

Hampshire fire and rescue service said: “The incident, and the measures being taken to contain the fire, appears to have affected a proportion of the mechanical handling equipment and some of the grid.”

All operations have been suspended at the site, with no orders being sent out until the area is deemed completely safe and secure. Ocado have apologised to customers who are affected by the “operational issues”.

Over 100 firefighters are still onsite. Relief crews that have taken over from the first firefighters on scene, continue to battle the blaze.

Hampshire Fire and rescue service continues to post updates of the fire on Twitter.
