It has been discovered that residents in Winchester are having more affairs than last year despite the Covid-19 crisis.

A map made by one of the UK’s leading affairs dating website Illicit Encounters, shows that over 700 people in Winchester are playing away from home.

Illicit Encounters spokeswoman Jessica Leoni said: “The main reason for a rise in affairs is lockdown cabin fever where many married couples have simply become fed up with each other after being trapped at home with their partners.

“It is clear that affair-seekers are searching for a connection right now more than ever.”

The numbers have risen by 8% since 2019 which saw just 688 partners cheating but now despite the risks, the data from Illicit Encounters shows that it has increased to 749 in 2020.

Social distancing measures have made it more difficult for married couples to divorce or separate due to living situations.

Ms Leoni said: “Separating or divorcing right now isn’t an option- so many people are reaping the benefits of much needed affection and attention at this time.”

London has the highest number of people that are active on the website with 151,409 people having flings within the city.

The interactive Infidelity Index allows users to search a city, town or postcode to discover how many people are having affairs within any post code.
