People in Winchester can still get into the festive spirit as some Christmas events are still going ahead:

Virtual Christmas Market

After this year’s Christmas Market was cancelled Winchester Cathedral decided to arrange an online Christmas Market.

The Cathedral said: “We know it was disappointing for many that the Christmas Market could not happen in its usual format, so we’ve brought together all the independent retailers, producers and charities who would normally be at the Christmas Market, together online.”

Christmas Concerts and Pantomime

The Theatre Royal has a variety of festive shows leading up to Christmas.

The theatre is putting on the pantomime Four Dames in Search of a Panto from 5 December to 3 January, after they earlier this year decided to postpone their pantomime Aladdin.

Concerts by Blake, The Spitfire Sisters and Five Star Swing are bringing festive music to the theatre on different dates leading up to Christmas.

For children the theatre is putting on the interactive family show Santa’s Christmas Cracker.

Meet Father Christmas

Father Christmas is coming to the Watercress Line, where children can meet him and receive a gift on selected dates in December.

There they can also go on fairground rides, a miniature railway and a children’s trail to learn about Christmas traditions.

Children can also see him when Winchester Round Table are bringing Santa and his sleigh around Winchester, to raise money for local charities, from 3 December to 18 December.

People can check when the sleigh is coming to their street and track the it on the Winchester Santa Sleigh website.
