Passengers in Southampton Airport are facing a second day of disruption due to freezing fog.

Hundreds of passengers had their flights cancelled yesterday as visibility was severely reduced due to thick fog.

Southampton Airport has not cancelled any flights today but has warned travellers to expect delays.

A spokesperson for the airport said: “We’re expecting some delays this morning due to fog. Please check-in as usual and contact your airline for specific flight information.”

The airport continues to issues weather updates from the met office.

“We are experiencing better weather today and so far no flights have been cancelled but there may be a knock on effect from adverse weather conditions yesterday.

“The Met Office have issued a weather warning until 13:00 however visibility has been improving over the last hour.”

Heathrow airport has cancelled 100 flights this morning following around the same number of cancellations as yesterday.

Gatwick has cancelled some flights and have told passengers to check for any delays.

The Met Office has issued a yellow “be aware” warning until Wednesday morning and Wightlink Ferries has been suspended between Lymington, Hampshire, and Yarmouth, in the Isle of Wight.
