Residents in a block of flats in Winchester were stuck in their homes following a week long delay to repair a broken lift.
Elderly and disabled residents living in Braxton House in Winnall were forced to use the stairs in the eight storey block for 9 days.
The building which is run by Winchester City Council saw the lift broken from the 9th to the 15th of November.
One resident with mobility issues was moved out of the building into a hotel due to the delays.
In response to complaints about the broken lifts, the council said: “We are very sorry residents at Braxton House had to endure a week without a lift.
“As soon as the Council was notified of the delays to the repair, additional support was made available to assist with lifting/carrying.”
The council also said they will look into the matter to improve their services in the future.
