Retail giants swoop in on shopping hot spot

A number of retail giants are thought to be battling it out for one of Winchester’s hottest shopping locations.

Following the closure of Beales department store at Brooks Shopping Centre earlier this year, several High Street names are believed to be scrapping it out for the empty lot.

Brooks Shopping Centre official, Kevin Easton claimed: “There are a few big names currently interested but nothing is set in stone”. He added: “I can’t see anything being decided before January”.

Although the identities of the High Street Stores remains undisclosed, Kevin did state that the parties involved were “well known” and “would be recognised by the average person”.

Beales was the flagship store in the city centre before its’ closure in the summer, having stood for around 25 years.
