University of Winchester’s Christian Union outreach event ‘a success’
The University of Winchester’s Christian Union held an outreach event on Monday.
Dial – a – Doughnut was an attempt by the Christian Union to answer any questions the university’s students had about Jesus or any other part of the Christian faith.
The promise the CU gave was that if you asked a question, you would receive an answer along with a doughnut later that same day.
Question askers were told to write down their address alongside their question so that their doughnut could be delivered to them later in that evening.
The CU stall received 95 questions, which ran between 9am and 4pm, by the University chapel, with a further eight coming through via the CU Instagram.
Rebecca Giddens, the Christian Unions student worker from UCCF said: “We had so many questions, questions about faith and science, faith and suffering and what is Church?”
On Monday evening, the Christian Union met to answer all the question they received.
CU members were sent out all over Winchester, from Winnall to Stanmore to deliver the doughnut with an answer to the question asked by the recipient.
When asked if it was a success, Joel Whitlock a committee member of the CU said: “103 people know a little bit more about Christ and our faith and our religion, that was the aim and we are very happy with it.”
The University of Winchester’s Christian Union meet every to worship god, hear from the Bible, share in fellowship and listen to a talk usually given by a guest speaker.
The CU mission statement is: “Growing together to go and share the love of Jesus on our campus” they feel that outreach events like this fulfill this statement.”
The CU’s hope is that Dial – A – Doughnut will help people think about coming to CU or even a church.
