Winchester fashion show highlights second-hand clothing trend

A second-hand clothing fashion show was held in the Brooks shopping centre in Winchester and featured four local charities.

Those taking part included Oxfam, children and young people’s hospice Naomi House and Jacksplace, along with Dogs Trust, that each provided clothing for the Charity Shop Chic Fashion Show from various collections put together by Sarah.

Organiser and personal stylist Sarah Sullivan said: “I was invited by Winchester BID to pitch an idea and came up with the idea of a pre-loved show.”

The event was on the 26th of September and was organised by Sarah, along with the local charities, the Brooks, and was part of Winchester Green Week. Showcasing pre-loved fashion from each charity, worn in different ways.

Having taken place during Winchester Green Week, Sarah hoped the show influenced and encouraged people to shop second-hand with the aim of giving the clothes a second life instead of throwing them away.

Ms Sullivan previously organised the event in 2023 and came back wanting to “go bigger with it”, after the show in Hotel du Vin, which had the models “getting dressed in a cupboard”.

Ms Sullivan was joined again by fashion business and marketing students from the University of Winchester who helped with the setup and dressing of the models, to gain more experience again as they helped the previous year.

Proceeds from the show were shared between all the charities involved in the event.
