The next generation of female leaders are the intended recipients of a £250,000 project to boost employability.

The aim is to help them break the glass ceiling and achieve their full potential.

The project will also focus on helping care leavers and white, British, under achieving males.

Professor David Way, of the University of Winchester, part of the team who won the award of £250,000 said the intention is that “more people see the university experience as being for them and don’t feel like they’ve missed out”.

The hope is that this will be a continued effort. He said: “If we end up with just setting something up, seeing it’s potential and then having to stop that would be disappointing.”

These awards are the second part of a £10m two year Degree Apprenticeships Development Fund programme.

The project will include a number of activities, such as information events, development of online resources and guides and a ‘step up to degree apprenticeships’ programme for young people.
