Cannabis Farm in Winchester
In the early hours of Monday, November the 20th, police raided the former night-club, Vodka, after an illicit cannabis farm was hiding within the walls of the building, situated on Upper Brook Street in Winchester city centre.
A video was released by Winchester police showing the officers gain access to the building through a back gate during the raid.
The night club, Vodka, was closed in May earlier this year, and was confirmed to reopen in September, however it has remained closed.
Upon entry, police officers and dogs were met with a controlled setup, where the Class-B Drug was located across numerous different rooms and at various stages of growth.
Inspector Matt Kirby from the Winchester Police Force said: “We have located a substantial cannabis factory within the City Centre, we take drug related harm and associated offences very seriously in our relentless pursuit for criminals in order to keep the public safe.”
A Fifty-Four-year-old man has been arrested following this raid, on suspicion of possessing the Class-B drug with intention to supply, and an investigation will continue in pursuit of anyone else involved with this cannabis farm.
The plants will carefully be removed from the building, before getting seized by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary, and the product will later be destroyed.
Police officers remain at the scene on Upper Brook Street, today, the 21st on November, as the war on drugs continues in the UK.
