Shaun Hobson became Eastleigh’s first, and only, signing of the transfer window when the defender joined The Spitfires on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 20-year-old has joined from Premier League side Bournemouth, where he is yet to make a first team appearance, despite currently recovering from an injury.

Eastleigh manager Ben Strevens said: “Shaun is a player who we have monitored over the course of the season… due to transfer windows we had to get this deal done.”

Hobson is currently injured and won’t be available for the upcoming game against Aldershot Town. However, a return for the important match against Salford is a more likely time frame.

Strevens continued: “He will continue his rehabilitation at Bournemouth and then will link up with the squad when he is ready.”

Upon his return, Hobson is expected to bring in extra defensive cover in The Spitfires push for the playoffs. Eastleigh have struggled to keep clean sheets this season and are the only side the top ten to have a negative goal difference.

Hobson has previous National League experience with Chester where he made 13 appearances last season.

Eastleigh have had a good season so far and are achieving above all expectations as they push for a place in the football league for the first time in their history.
