Graduation week for Winchester University’s class of 2024
Thousands of students from the University of Winchester celebrated their graduation at the end of October.
Friday 25th saw the last of the 11 ceremonies and was the highly anticipated day for students of English Literature, Journalism, Film, Drama, Music and Philosophy to name just a few.
Spirits were high and one student said: “I’m over the moon, I can’t believe it’s happened. It’s been leading up to three years of it and it’s all done now.
“To meet everybody again after it’s been such a long summer and to celebrate all together and with the lecturers, it’s just amazing.
“It’s been great fun.”
The special ceremonies were held at the city’s cathedral and students thoroughly enjoyed their time at the historic venue.
One said: “Studying here for three years, walking past it all the time and we’d never been inside, so for it to finally be in there it’s been extra special.”
Others said: ‘The cathedral is just so grand and epic to look at and be inside.
“Being in there felt special, it’s an amazing place.”
Students said that while the ten seconds they each had on stage were “daunting as everyone was watching”, it was a “brilliant” experience.
Many said that meeting comedian, actor and Chancellor of the University of Winchester, Hugh Dennis on stage “topped it off” for them.
