No more pay and display for Winchester hospital patients
New barriers will make it “quicker and easier” for patients and visitors to park at Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester.
The barriers should discourage other drivers from parking at the hospital resulting in more free spaces for patients and hospital visitors, according to Hampshire Hospitals.
Mary Edwards, chief executive of Hampshire Hospitals, said: “We understand that attending hospital can be stressful and are doing all we can to make sure that struggling to find a parking space does not add to this.”
Patients and visitors will no longer have to pay for their parking in advance, instead they will need to enter their registration and make a payment when they leave.
Parking charges have also been reduced from £1.80 to £1.50 for up to one hour. A seven-day pass is also available for patients and visitors costing £10.
